Question Rigid bodies rain.

Hello everyone. I'm working on a VFX shot for Vodafone (a telecommunications company). Their idea was to make a rain of megaphones.
I'm currently working but since my method goes from generating an instance of my rigid body in each particle emitted from a plane above the camera. On other hand i was thinking on doing it on Houdini and generate particles in random positions of a source cube and then make them fall. My problem with Maya is that i don't think it's possible to make (without scripting) my instances to react like rigid bodies can I? I need them to behave like megaphones falling, not spheres.
Am i missing something? Scripting won't be a problem but you might have a different approach suggestion. Thanks everyone.
