Does anybody know why maya keeps switching to rasterizer automatically at render time even after telling it to use ratrace. I am thinking its something I installed, could it be mental core?
Someone please help

I can think of ShaveHair plugin which in default settings do exactly this (need to be changed to off in ShaveGlobals)

try also change it in outliner when "showDAG object only off" and find "mi_default_options" node and see whats set there and try to change it
