Maya Error Help: Corrupted file lost forever?

Maya Error Help: Corrupted file lost forever?

I'll explain the issue in depth below, but basically I need to know if I should remodel or if I can save my files? I've tried several common solutions I found throughout the forums but they haven't worked.

While using the Interactive Split Tool, my Maya 2013 froze and I had to force quit the program. It prompted a save, so I saved out a new file named character_model_6.ma. When I attempted to re-open the file I discovered the file "_6.ma" was missing and only the last one "_5.ma" was there. When I opened that I received:

Now, I wasn't worried yet because I had another copy named character_model_4.ma, but that also gave me an error. I attempted to import both files into a new scene but it continued to give me the error. So I searched through more forums and found that my files had been nesting, I have no idea what that really means, but I tried selecting the "Load no references" but it still gave me the error. Now, I need to know if I should start re-modeling or if there is a slight chance of saving the files?

If this helps, a few days ago maya was bugging me about a node error. I had been using nHair so I deleted the system and objects. It was still opening normally. However, today I had to create "_5.ma" by importing the scene from "_4.ma" because it was acting silly.

Here is the error code it gave me:

It seems that when I deleted the hair system it didn't delete the shaders, is that the problem? Can I open the file without any of the shaders? And if I need to restart, how do I stop nesting my files?

if you post the file I can try to read trough the .ma with a text editor and see what can be saved
The errors about the swatches can be ignored, the are just files used in the shaderballs for preview

might also check the temp directory... when maya is able to 'catch' a crash and attempts to save, it will put the file there instead of the project/scenes or current working directory.

Thank you very much for replying, I appreciate it. Although it didn't save one in the cache, your replies prompted me to try opening the file through other methods. After about 10 or more copies, I was able to open the file, but I still couldn't work in it without the same error popping up. But it did finally bring up another error which was the real problem.

I ended up doing more research, and I fixed the issue by optimizing the scene and deleting at least 101 unknown nodes. Although, I still don't know what caused it in the first place.
