Anyone got a copy of the NDA? Surely there are a couple of loop holes to be exploited somewhere ;P

Normal for beta software, but in the case of maya, it's MEL with phyton as a second class citizen. So things can only get slower. Hopefully it will be a native phyton app some day.

I'm guessing we will see the most of the things that are currently included in the 2013 Extension releases. I'm looking forward to improved DirectX 11 support (I know, Windows only), and continued improvements to Viewport 2.0 (one can only hope).

I was going to say... aren't they moving away from Python/MEL to C#/MEL ... that seemed to be evident to me, but perhaps I drank to much last weekend.

would be a welcome change for me....

Honestly I cant see them leaving python behind why would they?, some of new API stuff in 2013.5 has python bindings and equivalents.

I am not sure why anyone would believe they were moving away from Python. All they did was implement C# on Windows for game studios, though it does look like a good implementation and I wish it was available on other platforms.

No moving away from python, just bringing in more 'options/different paths'.

More the merrier says I.

Wonder what the gap between release and sp1 will be this time round

Well if they do go down the ICE road with Maya, it would be pretty easy to throw in a half dozen or so nodes to fill in gaps here and there.

I just signed up for the beta testing but I can't find where you can download stuff. All I see is "You are not currently enrolled in any Projects."

For those in the program, how did you get it?

I'd wager that they screen candidates. Best bet is to wait probably.

ya, it's not an automatic acceptance thing. They need to know you're legitimate.

I'd like to see open exr 2.0 and deep compositing in mental ray.
