Paint Weights Problem


I am using a curve based facial setup.

Basically I have facial controls working fine but when I parent them to my head control to make them rotate the controls rotate but the mesh stays behind.

so I checked out my skin weights and its seem all the weight had gone to the curves, so I used the add function in the skin paint weight tool to the head bone. I could then rotate it fine without the mesh messing up but when i came to use my face controllers they had no weight. So again used the Add weights tool but to no avail.

My paint weights tool is set to Interactive but when I change it to post a lot of my vertices go flying into the distance.

Please help ASAP
