Duel Screen Issues, Render View not displaying.

Hi there,

First I apologize if this may be a repeat thread, but I am experiencing issues with Maya's Render View. I have a duel screen monitor setup with my laptop at home. I was using Maya to render out some images of an interior scene; I had the render view on my other screen as I was using it. I brought my laptop to school and now the render view is not displaying, however, everything that should happen when you render normally is happening.

I believe that somehow Maya is thinking that I am still connected to my other monitor so it wants to display it there. I was wondering if anybody has experienced this issue before and if there is a way to fix it.

Thank you for reading my thread and providing feedback.

Issue Fixed

I resolved the issue.

The only way is to connect a second monitor, in my case a projector, and drag the render view to the main screen. Problem fixed.

Just a little something to try if you don't have a random projector around; In Prefereces > UI Elements you can uncheck "Restore Saved Layout From File" to keep whatever layout you currently have. So as long as you don't have some crazy dual monitor default layout and the renderview shows up when you start maya this should save you in most switching situations.
Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for that tip.

easy way is with mel

for example if your outliner is off screen:

window -e -tlc 1 1 outlinerPanel1Window ;

will set it back to the top left corner of the original screen.

you can list which windows are open using:

lsUI -type "window";
