ViewPort 2.0 crashing issue

I have noticed that in Maya 2013, that while using viewport 2.0, that maya crashes if I have more then 3 materials using transparency from an image. I've seen this happen on my OSX Lion Desktop, with up to date specs, and the same on my PC laptop.

I don't even necessarily have to turn on depth peeling, it'll crash without that option being used.

This certainly doesn't seem to be a huge request for this to work, I'm pretty baffled that it doesn't. Any ideas would be appreciated.

viewport 2 is not super stable. File a bug report and hope it gets fixed. It's likely nothing to do with your OS or drivers.

So, this brings me to a question. I have an animation that is basically planes with images and transparency, being animated. The view port 2.0 would be a great way to animate this, but since it's not up to the task, can I ask what might be your method? (Using the normal viewer window becomes really confusing because objects snap in front of one and other incorrectly.)

hard to say. I don't have these issues with VP2, so I wouldn't really need to find a workaround
