Import autocad block references to Maya?

So i have this dxf file. With autocad block references in it. I can open it in autocad, and export to whatever format, but either they give errors on import or they show up empty.

I'm guessing the block references need to be converted to nurbs curves in autocad.

Anyone know of a workaround here because I know nothing of autocad?

You can explode the reference blocks and clean the drawing from unnecessary geometry inside Autocad (otherwise Maya could get slow)
