How to find and delete specific node types ?

Does anyone know how to delete all ik handle nodes in a scene and all constrain nodes in a scene.

My rig is so complex that going in and deleting one by one seems like a crazy process but if there was a way to get the outliner to show only ik_handles and or constrain nodes then I could just select them and delete them and this would save me a lot of time.

You could use the filter at the top of the outliner, just type in say : *ik* and you should see all the IK handles.

Alternatively you could do it with a simple bit of MEL like this:

 select -r `ls -type ikHandle`; delete;

You could do the same for constraints, just replace the 'ikHandle' in the script with say 'parentConstraint' etc

HTH,
Cheers,
Brian

Thanks ! that worked.
That filter at the top of the outliner didn't seem to select the relevant nodes. Does it match node types or names of nodes ?

The filter just works with names AFAIK, it doesn't select anything, it just affects what is displayed in the OL. One thing that's a little counter-intuitive with it is that you usually have to unfold the hierarchies to find the objects.

Brian

Is there a hotkey to open all hierarchies and close all hierarchies ?

Hold Shift and click on the '+' beside the top node to unfold that entire hierarchy.

Actually what I mean is to open and close all hierarchy's not just the selected hierarchy.
