Animated Character export in .FBX

Hi there,

I use Maya 2011, a character mesh that was previously exporting successfully in .fbx is now exporting without the "skinning". When I open my .fbx file, the geometry is there, the joints are there and there is animation but only on the joints are animated, the mesh stays in place. As if it was never skinned.

I made several successful exports with this character. The difference is that this mesh was exported as a .ma and reimported into another Maya file. I apply a smooth bind to the geo and import skin weights. In Maya it runs fine but somehow the .fbx export process "unskins" the geo.

As anyone have a similar issue before?

Thanks for your help,
