why don't i want to use plugins?

Simply because i want to learn how to get it done without relying on plugins,there was a job i did back a while and i used a lot of plugins,so one day we had to move the work site to the clients office and mount new machines with defaults native tools.It was so embarrassing that we used plugins in maya and could find a way without them.So hence learning to do thing the native to the software.Can any of you think of moving to a new pc and living all ure plugins at home?i can.I never had that issue with 3ds max,now im required to learn maya so that every artist here must have 2 software packages.

Well the fracturing in maya (shatter) is trula rubbish and will probably crash before u find it in the menu ...

Anyway might i ask why you dont want to use a plug do to the fracturing?

is this script safe with maya 2013?

if so id like to break it apart and see what makes it tick,memorize it

Valentious, now you're just being lazy:

there's installation instructions on that same page where you've downloaded that stuff.

Seems that you're being hasty and not wanting to read any instructions/user guides ?

not being lazy,i can't find the phython path,

i aslo tried the path to the my documents were the scripts are.Also open the script form the editor.

Installation:
dg_voroPy.py goes in your maya python path, this can be set with maya.env check maya docs to see how.



dg_voro_py_UI.mel goes in your Maya script directory.

type dg_voro_py_UI(); in the script editor, or make a shelf button.




Voronoi shatter requires a closed 3d poly mesh object and a group of locators to define the cell centres.


Select the object first then the locator group and click the button.

two locator conversion utilities are provided:
particles to locators...




select particles, click the button.
constrained particles to locators...


select a poly mesh, then particles. The resulting locators are constrained within the bounds of the selected mesh.

NB

. for best results, make sure your poly mesh is error free, and without construction history. The script will work on a mesh with construction history, but will populate your scene with lots of empty transforms.

Fracture and Demolition workflow

We have a DMM build submitted to Autodesk. They will post it shortly for Maya 2013. You can try with that one.
