I don't understand this thread..
isn't this, a noise mod, animated. + other mods?
why would you people want a plug for that? defeats the purpose of using max itself..

or I'm missing something..

I guess the standard noise can´t fine-tune the wave shape as tessendorf algorithm.. Isn´t it ?

tessendorf would be great, but the OP said that he doesn't use c++, that this is a mxs tool.
learning the sdk to create a plugin, + learning the algorithm + extra features, + research, etc,
wouldn't that require a lot of effort/time?. most likely a very long time..

it started with a mxs tool and later I asked a friend to write the tessendorf algorithm for me and we mixed C++ with mxs.
I still don't know how to write a plugin, he did.

what is missing? perhaps you could release it as a beta .
nonetheless, I could use those ocean shaders. I even tried to contact the author, but no reply

I must say you have a really nice tool my friend !!

I would like to suggest one thing:

A procedural way to view/export/retrive a displacement map data result from the mesh
eg. Realflow´s displacement texture (.tif) checkbox http://thevault.realflow.com/imagen...430084_4964.jpg

Cheers,

Yea, releasing those shaders would be great. I also tried to contact you and your friend like 3 times but never got any response :( Make it a few bucks or so if you want, they look really great.

Great stuff! I wouldn't mind paying for this script/plugin so you guys could finish it properly. Just don't make it ultra expensive

Awesome! Thanks for you efforts Ruben! Even unfinished this is great. Decent ocean/water tools are seriously lacking even though the demand is pretty high. I do at least 3 or 4 ocean animations a year for clients. I agree as others have said, you could stand to make some $$ with an official release. I would pay happily. I'll take a free alpha in the meantime, thanks again! Going to try it ASAP.
