Add two bitmaps to same face/object
Hello, I am pretty new to 3ds max and I am currently making a ship. I have put some wood on the outside of the ship with a bitmap in the material editor and UVW unwrap and to make it more alive I want to add some grunge (with opacity of ~50) on the outside of this material.
I can't do it in photoshop because of how the model is unwrapped and I wonder if there is any way to do this in 3ds max? I have tried to add an opacity map in the material editor but it destroys the wood thatís already on the boat (I guess that's for something else).
So I want two bitmaps on top of each other but I don't want my second bitmap to be affected by the UVW unwrap and i want it to have an opacity of 50. Is this possibly?

Sure.. it's possible... on several ways...
Go in your bitmap map, click on upper right "bitmap" button, select Mix Map, and then check "keep your old map as submap"...
Now you have a 2 slots, each for the one of the bitmap.
You have slider witch you can make whatever you want (or even animate), or you can use "mix map" and put there black/white color that will determine what would be the first bitmap, and what is the second.
Hope that was clear.. if not.. just google:
"3DS Max mix map", or
"3DS Max composite map", or
"3DS Max Blend material", or
"3DS Max composite material"...
Each of those can do what you want.
