Whats wrong with my texture

Hi all,

I am very new, only working in 3ds max 2012 for a few weeks now. I seem to run across this problem with my textures. Some of my rendered materials don't look like my material previews. I'm sure it's something simple.

Thanks for enlightening me.

Hey waistey, Have you properly Unwrapped your model?(As in UV Unwrapping)

If not then put a UVW Map modifier on top of your model, and in it's options select the 'Box' mode...lemme know if that was the problem so I can enlighten you more...

Rudiam, Thank you for pointing me back to the UVW map, I got it working through UVW Map / alignment / fit. Scaling the texture's bitmap got it all together.

okmijun, I watched all of those Mike Pickton videos this past week, they're excellent. The materials & textures video (#9) wasn't remedial enough for me, I need to find more instruction in materials for the rank amateur. Thanks both for your help.
