Where does Max store custom toolbars?
Hey whats up guys.
Installed a PhysX update today and immediately noticed that my GUI was different on the next startup. I could tell right away that PhysX had modified my GUI because there was a big PhysX toolbar floating in the center of the screen.
Now I can handle an extra toolbar, but in changing the UI it deleted my custom toolbar!
So quick and easy question:
1. Where does Max store custom toolbars? Obviously in the UI folder, but what file specifically in there?
2. Is there any way to recover a Max GUI? (I was just using the default startup UI, which included my toolbar.)
3. In the Customize UI dialog, I brought up the dropdown list of all the toolbars and mine didn't show up, does this mean it's definitely gone?

I reported this as a bug to Nvidia. The physx plugin installer, overwrites the default cuix file.
Unless you at any point saved your toolbar (cuix) file with a different name, then it's gone.
But to answer your question they are stored here:
C:\Users\XXXXXX\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2013 - 64bit\ENU\en-US\UI\
They are CUIX files. THey are just XML files so you can open them with the MaxScript Editor and search for your toolbar name, see if it comes up in any of them.
