How to remove the unassigned materials ?

Hello guys... I'm back here again because I just invented to many materials in the material editor and forgot which one I have used in the scene, and which one I haven't.. I did this in order to experiment with materials, to see which material fits best for the scene... So is there any way to get rid of those materials that are not used in the scene?

The used one materials, have the grey corners in the corners of the prieviews window.
Do not know how to explain it...also the button SELECT BY MATERIAL, in Mat Editor is greyed
Than, manualy add new blank standard mat to unused slots.
But....why do you need this stuff at all???

If you use the Slate Material Editor you can have more than 24 materials showing at once. Just use the Get All Scene Materials option to clean up the view.

In the regular material editor you can use Reset Material Editor to clear all the slots.

I can't get used with the slate editor :( Can't I get more than 24 slots in the normal material editor? without to reset the existing ones?

In the utilities menu of the material editor, there's an option "Condense material editor slots". This will leave only the materials that are attached to scene objects. All materials that aren't used in the scene will be removed.

Other than that you can not have more than 24 materials simultaneously loaded in the old material editors.
