Multi Texture renamer?
Well, I am the optimist in did!
Is there any plugin to multi rename textures? I mean BOTH in mat slot and HDD drive? So, the path should stay correct after runing the script. .... To much optimistic? __________________

What do you mean by HDD Drive? Just renaming .mat files? There are tons of renamers for renaming files in Windows, Advanced Renamer is a good one. As for the materials in Max, a good script to use is Interactive Universal Renamer - http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/interactive-universal-renamer

No mat files.... but textures,
egz>>>>> OBJECTs 1-1000 have 200 mats with 600 textures /to much but just for egz/ than with one or few click, rename BOTH textures on HDD, actually path for 3ds max, and in mat editor like this door_diffuse_01.jpg becomes ANYNAME_doordiffuse_01.jpg as in the hdd drive, as in mat editor, like this D:\ANYNAME_doordiffuse_01.jpg also in mat diffuse slot the path is changed! it is so complicated as it looks when it is written ![]() __________________

Well, like I mentioned you can use Advanced Renamer for renaming files and folders. As far as updating the paths in Max, I would go with a script instead of a plugin for that. Scriptspot has tons of scripts, for just about every need. I remember seeing a script somewhere on there for managing paths, just do a search on there for "bitmap paths".

You're trying to batch relink materials after you rename the actual files right? I don't think this is really possible in max, or no one has made a script or plugin for it yet... There are scripts for relinking bitmaps if the folders have changed, but not if you change the filename. Because most scripts that look for the files, search by the filenames, and and relink them to the material. Also if you move the textures out of their correct folders, into the same folder as your max scene, it will still find them, because the materials remember the filenames. What you need is a script that can edit the strings for the full path including the filename in batch.
The only scripts that might do what you need, is - Relink Bitmaps: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/s.../relink-bitmaps File Path Finder: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/s...-light-versions Last edited by Ian31R : 04 April 2013 at 03:20 AM. |
