Any Thoughts on the new Titan GTX card from NVIDIA?

Anyone have any thoughts as to how this card will run Max?
Thanks,

I suspect it would be just fine as long as what you are doing has support for the kepler chipset.

It sure looks cool and who can argue with 4.5 teraflops!

my default position on high end graphics cards:

It's better for us than the GTX 690 but it's hard to recommend over the GTX 680. The main thing I think that's important for us is the 6GB of memory, that would match the high-end workstation cards. Very useful for something like iRay or Vray RT. Only issue is that price tag. I think it should probably be worth maybe $800 rather than $1,000

I agree about the memory.
We do a lot of point cloud work using Clouds2Max, and this additional memory should allow us to load even larger data sets.
My current card is a GTX 590 (dual processor with 1.5Gb of RAM on each), and it does pretty well.
Thanks
David

1000€ (in Europe we have a direct conversion... Why? Don't know...) it's a bit high, but not bad, you get around 50% more performance than with the 580 and 60% more than the 680, and you get the 6Gb of memory, anithyng below 3Gb is not valid for me.

What I really want to see is a 4/6Gb card with the 580 performance and with a price around 400€/500€ but the Titan is not bad, finally some serious memory amount in a Cnsumer GPU.

Cheers.

I'm actually surprised they keep bumping up the memory like they are, very few people can use 4GB-6GB, mainly the people that don't want to buy workstation cards so I would have thought they wouldn't add that much memory to the lower-priced gaming cards so that they could force people to buy their more expensive workstation cards to get the higher amount of memory.

I wonder how much gpu's there are on the board to share that mem.

Is it only 1?

Yeah that's the advantage, the GTX 690 is faster, but it's dual GPU's where each GPU has only 2GB of memory. The advantage of this one is the memory plus you can take full advantage of the GPU in cases where multiple GPU's aren't supported, like with the 3ds Max viewport.

Set it to double precision and it becomes 1.3... but do we really need dp?

Anybody know how well it performs in opengl.?

OT:
from my point of view, Quadro K5000 disappointed me...so GTX Titan will be the same, hardware is good but software is bottleneck...

LOL only if you can perceive a difference in the finished product .... or it if it gets it done faster!
