Skeletal mesh question

Hello, I modeled a pistol for a friend for a udk project she's working on. Finished modeling it and thought all I had to do was email her the file, so I did and she then told me that she couldn't use it. It needed to be a skeletal mesh. What is that? And how do I achieve it ?

Normally that would mean the object has been skinned to a bone skeleton. I'm not familiar with UDK enough to know if that's normal for weapons. It would be for characters.

I suggest you look up the docs and see how they need to be set up. Without that info you won't get far.
