remodel existing mesh using cloth modifier

Hey Guys,
lets say i have a triangulated mesh which i want to remodel in clean quads (and quadrify doesnt come up with something nice).
There d be the old fashioned way of classical polygon modelling over it, but isnt there a way to recreate that shape by using something similiar as the cloth modifiers?
Something that kinda scans the existing mesh and builds something new from it?
Any help would be appreciated
Greetz

Essentially you are Retopping the model.

The Graphite toolset now comes with the conform to Mesh tools, check them out.
Also Wrapit is a great plugin for this kind of thing.

Also the quadrify (from graphite modeling, not the modifier) might give you what you want.
