Texturing Help

Hi!
I need some help with the UVW's for my candle holder. I didn't think I would have any problem with this model. But I cant get it right.
If you look at this picture you can see that the topp of the holder looks pretty good, but at the foot it does not look good at all..

First I tried with cylindrical mapp and the with a box mapp. That did not give a good result.
So I started unwraping it. But it didnt turn out good either. I just got some wierd looking distortions.
I'm using 3D Studio Max 2011, I would be very happy if someone could help me with this
