Best way to Import/stitch and Unwrap imported Inventor Fusion shapes?

What is the best way to import Inventor/Inventor Fusion forms into 3dsmax for rendering? How can you unwrap them?

At this moment I use .STEP files to export from Inventor Fusion. Import in 3dsmax as a Body object. But how can you accurately unwrap body objects? Or imported shape objects from inventor fusion. Is there a way to stitch the forms together better once they are imported? I tried diffrent settings for welding/stitching in the body object settings pane, but nothing worked correctly (I kept open/unmerged seams).
