I second that!

I know it's been a while since any updates, but I hope you're still open to ideas for the script

Would it be possible to get finalRender's Object Properties added too?

Cheers,

Daniel

The only documentation is avaliable through the online wiki for which you need an account at cebas.com, but I could save a copy of the page out to pdf if that helps. I'll pm you a link shortly. I've also asked on the forums if the is more access through maxscript that isn't included in the wiki, just waiting for a reply.

Cheers,

Daniel

I'd need a list of all the properties, what you sent me covers the how to set properties but not what they all are

Did you think any more about doing a redesign of the UserInterface?

Old 01 January 2013   #52
Yeah I gave Autodesk my list of demands with mock-ups as I don't believe I'll be able to make it fast enough with maxscript, but as Autodesk can't hear me over their own sound of how awesome they are I shall look at a re-design at some point. It could tie in nicely with an in-house tool I'm making so maybe I'll try to hit two birds with one stone.

You could also consider writing a plugin using the .NET SDK wrapper. That will give you a big performance gain over maxscript. And it is not as hard to get into as the C++ SDK.

This is something I'd be happy to learn... but help and documentation seems flaky at best, is this how you are writing Outline 3.0?

Got any useful links for learning? Would I be limiting the script to only Max 2012+ using this method?

Indeed. It is virtually non-existant. That makes it a bit tricky to get into, in addition to some SDK oddities.

Yes

Unfortunately I don't. The only documentation I've found is the few pages in the SDK help...

3dsMax 2012 SAP, or 3dsMax 2013 in fact...

Maybe you could write some documentation based on your findings

If I was being paid by Autodesk I would be happy to do so. But I'm not, unfortunately.

Well if you ever start to feel slightly Alturistic then how about a very very simple test project? All I'd need to see is how to get set up and Object Properties then I could start with the re-write

Randomly I found a good max tip today, Ctrl+Alt+Right Mouse click on an individual object and you can control the basic object properties.
