Yeah I should have included some license information, I'm not going to make money off a simple script like this so I've kept it unencrypted so people can take a look at it and learn from it. If you want to develop it more I'd kindly ask that in the spirit of web 2.0 that you contribute to this thread and post back any changes, I'll absorb any useful suggestions and bits of code and put them in.

Please don't repost this on your own websites, I'll put a download link on my blog today and you can link other people to there if you like.

If you want to somehow integrate it into Outliner I'd be honoured but we'd need to sort a system where it would update to the latest version for everyone. PM if that's the intention of your message.

Yes this is possible, the search is tricky but I'm sure I can sort it.

Small bug in the last release, if the object previously had Vray Properties then it would crash because the Vray only assigns the Geometry mode when you change it. Fixed.

I love the Maxscript tab.

On the general tab, with a CAT object selected, this error gets generated:

>> MAXScript Callback script Exception:
-- Unknown property: "pos" in $Object:CATRigHub001 @ [-4.534546,4.814082,63.194214] <<

This is presumably due to CAT objects' unique method of accessing transform data.

Yeah seems to have issues with CAT objects on the maxscript tab as well.

This is AMAZING. Such a simple thing, but I would use it all the time if it were easily accessed like this!

The only thing I can think of is an option to not have "show frozen objects in gray" selected by default...when I freeze stuff, I like to still see texture/transparency/etc. on it.

A new version with a few little bug fixes and the ability to search in the maxscript tab.

Any other feature requests?

Just noticed something which I think may be an inconsistency: the "edges only" checkbox state differs from the default max object properties dialog. I guess this is because the actual node property (alledges) is inverse to the dialog checkbox.

Cheers Pjanssen, fixed that now, also had messed up and uploaded an old version last time which didn't have the maxscript tab search function.

Also now has a useful minimize button.

I still find the whole interface rather clunky and useless, how would people feel about a stripped down version which was more like the channelbox in Maya, something you could dock at the side of your viewport like the Outliner, and just have one long list of properties, would be better value screen real-estate?

Nice one!

btw.. I read this in the source's introduction:
Code:
--Copy this into your... --C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxxxxxxxxx\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsMax\20xx - 64bit\enu\UI\usermacros --or whatever folder --restart max (seriously why do we have to do that, soo annoying!) --Goto Customize -> customise User interface -> Quads --Change Category to 'DW Tools' --Drag the 'Object Properties 2.0' to just below the 'Properties' in the quad list... --Get rid of the other one at your peril, I'd keep both for now just for backup if I were you.

That restart isn't necessary, if a user just runs the .mcr file it is added to the list and automatically copied to the userdata folder. Opening it in the editor and press ctrl-e will do the same.

I think that is an excellent idea. I agree that the current interface is somewhat cluttered.
