HR: Studios Must Face Trimmed Lawsuit Over CG Characters in Blockbuster Movies

A judge rejects a copyright claim, but tells Disney, Fox and Paramount that claims for inducing patent infringement and violating trademarks will move forward.

Now imagine the opposite, that a small company would had been accused of  "unlicensed use" of  say Disney tech. A judge would probably have ordered that the small company would have had all its assets frozen, the whole management put on a no-fly list, FBI raiding the management and key employers homes, Homeland would freeze all assets of any and all foreign companies that have ever done business with that small company, the judge would just stop short of sending in the drones... And this is just what happens BEFORE the trial, which will happen 3-5 years later.
