Nicolas Cage Can Now Be Put Into Any Movie in History Thanks to Machine-Learning

Nicolas Cage is no stranger to internet memes, but it’ll be very hard to outdo the current Cage meme sweeping the nation. A piece of software known on the internet as FakeApp utilizes an algorithm that makes it possible to scan a celebrity’s face and upload it onto preexisting video content, so naturally people have begun inserting Nicolas Cage into every movie on the planet.http://www.indiewire.com/2018/01/ni...kes-1201923224/

Or more accurately, naturally people have begun pasting celeb faces on porn stars. This is a reddit trend after all
I actually tried it a few days ago and i am surprised how well it works, though it needs either some beefy GPU hardware or a lot of time
This
rendered about 12 hours on my single 1060

And once again Science Fiction becomes Science Fact. I have an old book here, which I literally read to shreds, called 'Fury' about the colonization of Venus where in the end they have a televised broadcast by the main character and overlay that with his altered portrait and voice to say something completely different then the main character. That was written in 1947!

I remember how Marlon Brando was brought back to "life" for 'Superman returns', how that utilized a huge amount of skills and work. Seems it got a lot more easy now.

When this gets good enough, you'll probably have Hollywood movies where a really good - though not necessarily good looking - stage actor plays a part to perfection, and then the face of whatever celebrity they want to push gets overlaid on that acting.

A great use of course is to let actors who are no longer with us appear in new movies.

I foresee that actors that have gained sufficient notoriety will rent out their faces and voices.

Could eventually create a whole new subset of the legal or security industry
specializing in Forensicly determining what is Fake.

The really good news is that this or other vfx technologies have never been and will never be used by news media or governments. Never.

Forensics. I don't know about you guys, but after 20+ years of staring at photo touch ups  and 3d animation, I can tell within a split second if something feels "off". Apparently the vast majority can't see the difference between a claymation dinosaur and grumpy cat. Maybe we have a competitive advantage here? lets get rich!

Fun thread.

I see people paying to star, in their own Bond movie.

This stuff will eventually get so good at faking video that even forensics algorithms will have difficulty telling "real" and "fake" apart. Various algorithms ARE used in forensics to see if photo and video evidence is real, or it has been manipulated in Photoshop or other software.

One great thing though - If anyone ever puts a sex video of you on the internet without your permission, you can immediately claim "its a fake! its a fake! my penis is much bigger than the one in the video, so it can't be me!"
