Unity's mobile licenses are now free

Unity just announced that along with their regular free license the licenses for Android and ios development are now also free.

I'm not really sure, they are one of the first to release a free game engine for commercial use with no string attached, other than ID Tech (ID Software) releasing their source code. And then there are a lot other free game engine for mobile devices already, open source and not.

Lets not forget last year they also give mobile license (basic) for free for a month - whoever register that will get to own the 3.0 mobile license (basic). I did. If you google around you will find the article I think.


Maybe that is to test the water. And this time its the real deal. While I'm not a mobile developer, I have a space in my heart (and memories) for indie game dev, and I'm happy that Unity did this.
