It looks like they are going to start gunning for Maxon's Cinema 4d next. They are moving in leaps and bounds. If they get really strong mograph tools that compete with C4d, I'll take a look.

The renderer always impressed me, too.

As soon as you can SheepFactory, tell us how the new Character Animation tools and workflow feels. Last time I tried it (601 demo last year) I was not convinced since I felt it lacked a lot of what I'm used and the interaction was a bit slow to my taste.

I really really hope they got it a lot better on 701 and from what I see in the videos it looks like it.

Yea from the videos it looks like I can finally animate in modo. There are some REALLY nice tools in there. I just installed 701, going to try and rig a simple ball with legs rig and do some test animations to see how the workflow is. I have a lot to learn

701 has render proxy's i'm not familiar with the vray ones but the modo's ones look pretty good and integrate with the replicator system..

Looks like a solid upgrade. Definitely encroaching into Cinema 4D's territory.

I have no idea what the Modo proxi is. But I have played with the Vray Proxi. Completely amazing tech.

Yup. C4D needs to upgrade the particle system something fierce. I am totally in love with C4d's mograph tools, but man - modo is moving at a brisk pace.

Wow! The new Modo release kicks ass! So many new features and improvements. Especially in the animation and particles area. One can just wish this kind of upgrade from Autodesk.
