Trello (project management)
Just wanted to turn you folks on to an online (cloud?) project management tool called Trello.
Jeez I could go on and on about this. But here are my quick bullet points. - extremely organic method of specifying and modifying projects ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaDf1RqeLfo - dropbox integration ... http://blog.trello.com/dropbox-integration/ - google drive integration ... http://blog.trello.com/introducing-...ve-integration/ - "unlimited account storage" ... http://help.trello.com/customer/por...hments-to-cards - 10MB individual media uploads - full IOS support Might not be for everyone. But if you're a small team (I'm doing indie game dev and small visual production projects) this is VERY promising. |

I love this program. I've been using this to track my students and their projects.

Yeah, I've only been using a few weeks now. But I'm liking this more than Basecamp and Teamwork PM for small projects with small teams.
It will be interesting to see how this scales... ...and it's free (supposedly ad infinitum) for the core functionality. Have not seen any paid plugins yet. |

I'd be interested in this if it wasn't cloud based. I'd really like a solid system that isn't online.

They do have an official Android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...om.trello&hl=en The app lacks some polish (compared to the web version, which is fantastic), but it's perfectly functional. I use it daily. BTW, we've been using Trello for developing Filter Forge for about a year, and it's a great tool. As for its "cloudness", I don't consider that a big problem (though I do monthly XML exports of all our boards, just in case). |

Ok ... I'm officially in love with Trello. It's a honeymoon, but the future looks very promising!
I went to the resource board and found a bunch of usage cases. https://trello.com/board/trello-res...cbdcb7e7d40e099 Then I found a great little sample of using google docs and Trello which convinced me that it's very possible to generate an acceptable overview of a large project. (I imagine there are already paid solutions that do this better) It would be GREAT to open a tab in a google docs spreadsheet and see all Trello project progress/velocity at a glance. http://kevinpelgrims.com/blog/2012/...docs-and-trello I then did some testing with the subscription feature for cards, lists and boards. I can see how this will scale well to a team of even 50 people with a manageable signal/noise ratio. ...is there a noticeable performance difference between Trello in Chrome and other browsers? I'm a Firefox and infrequent Safari user these days. |
