MAXON Announces Strategic Alliance with Adobe®

MAXON Announces Strategic Alliance with Adobe to Bring Creative Professionals New Levels of Digital Media Content Creation.

FRIEDRICHSDORF, GERMANY — March 19, 2013 — MAXON, the developer of CINEMA 4D, a leading 3D animation software for film, broadcast and motion graphics professionals, today announced it has entered into a strategic alliance with Adobe Systems Incorporated to further collaborate on technology that provides creatives in the motion graphics and visual effects industry with new levels of digital media content creation. As part of the alliance, both companies are expected to collaborate and engineer a pipeline between Adobe® After Effects® software and CINEMA 4D to give users a seamless 2D/3D foundation.

"CINEMA 4D is a leading 3D solution, and the one After Effects users have come to know and love because of its ease-of-use, speed, stability and especially tight integration with the 2D compositing application," said Harald Egel, co-founder and CEO, MAXON Computer GmbH. "We look forward to continued collaboration between our programming and marketing teams to ensure that the interoperability of our software products makes a positive impact on artists seeking to easily and fully integrate 3D into their production pipelines."

"Adobe After Effects has a 20-year history of setting the standard for motion graphics and visual effects software," said Steve Forde, senior product manager for After Effects at Adobe. "Collaborating with a market leader in 3D graphics programming like MAXON will further accelerate how After Effects users create rich engaging experiences."

Please visit Steve Forde's blog for more information about today’s announcement.

Now this could be interesting.....if this works this will put Maxon in a very good position being integrated even closer with After Effects.

I think this is great news.

Modo and Foundry, now Maxon and Adobe, if this doesn't give Autodesk a kick in the but I don't know what will . . .

That tempts me to say something like
"With all their fat they might not even notice that they were kicked..."

My gut tells me that this is just the tip of the iceberg. There might be much more to this. Hype over a tighter C4D/AE connection just seems weird. Not gonna make any predictions, but I wouldn't be surprised to see an Adobe branded Cinema4D in the future. I know it sounds improbable and unlikely, but nobody thought that Adobe would absorb the Macromedia products either. Wishful thinking. I know. Still, the idea of Adobe gunning for Autodesk does sound nice.

I should hope NOT! Maxon being bought out by Adobe? That would be disastrous, and I don't think that's going to be it. I am very intrigued though.

After finding myself laid off after many years, I hope it means more affordable price structuring. I've used C4D since version 5.1 but stopped upgrading my personal license when I started working full time. That license was 10.5, so now it would cost me around $3400 to upgrade. Laid off = no money = no way to buy the software = can't do freelance work. This is an issue.

Maxon/nemetschek would never sell to Adobe - they don't need to. But more integration could be fantastic.

Imagine .ae / .c4d integration - it already exists partly - but could be fantastic.

Now if C4D became part of the Adobe cloud package!!! Now that would be nuts...

Maxon and Adobe, Dynamic Link please!

Well I heard rumors a couple of years ago that Adobe were working on their own 3DCC, that has not really emerged. I hope they don't merge as C4d is better served by Maxon.

Anyway I'm in Dublin airport with my Da waiting on the plane to Amsterdam. See you all later.....

Very Interesting news. There lies a lot of potential in this connection.
And This at the 20th anniversary of c4d and AfterEffects.

I love Ae, and a potential live bridge between the two apps would be nice. I do hope though that there will be something for those who don't use C4D too. A built in Element3D like plugin for example
