https://www.youtube.com/watch?featu...v=IHY3b1BPbU0#!

Looks like the release is near.

"What can I expect from MODO 701?

Procedural particle engine with an easy to use preset workflow.
Audio playback and sound channel modifier.
Schematic improvements, reducing scene graph complexity.
Dedicated dynamics simulation layer, significantly improving performance.
Simplified complexity of materials and layered shaders.
Large scene performance improvements by as much as 175x.
Preview render synchronization improvements, over 50x faster in large scenes.
New Python interpreter making python execution many times faster.
Unlimited network rendering.
Soon to be released LINUX operating system support.
AND LOTS MORE..."

I am really excited to see what will be included in this update. The pricing went up from 1195 to 1495 and if you own 501 and upgrade now you get a free upgrade to 701 on launch.

http://www.3dworldmag.com/2013/03/1...unces-modo-701/

Quote: modo 701 pricing

New licenses of modo 701 will increase to $1,495/£999/€1,169 and new floating licenses of modo 701 will increase $1,795/£1,199/€1,399.

Upgrade and educational prices remain the same for USD and GBP, EUR upgrade and educational pricing has decreased due to exchange rate fluctuations.

However, people without modo can buy 601 now at the current price ($1,195) and then get a free 701 upgrade on launch.

modo owners (version 501 or before) can upgrade now and get a free upgrade to 701 on launch.

I don't see that anywhere.

What it says on the Luxology webpage is : «Exclusive offer for non-601 owners
Don’t own modo 601 yet? Upgrade to or buy modo 601 between now and 701’s launch, and receive a FREE upgrade to MODO 701 once released. »

So its not a free upgrade for owners of 501.

It is not a free upgrade to anyone but those who buy modo 6 from today to whenever 7 gets released.

Looks interesting enough. I wish the video focused more on practical examples rather than a stream of abstraction with horrible music. And what was up with those yellow cubes anyway? Why did that make it into the demo?

The logo forming looked interesting; maybe some C4D-esque effectors coming in hopefully. I guess the explosion was decent enough.

I like Maya for character animation, but for modeling, surfacing, and rendering, it's Modo for me. I'm looking forward to seeing the update.
