HDR Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, Snapseed, etc...

Quote: We are pleased to announce that Google has acquired Nik Software. For nearly 17 years, we’ve been guided by our motto, “photography first”, as we worked to build world class digital image editing tools. We’ve always aspired to share our passion for photography with everyone, and with Google’s support we hope to be able to help many millions more people create awesome pictures.

We’re incredibly grateful for all of your support and hope you’ll join us on the next phase of our journey as part of Google.

All our best!

The Nik Software Team

Just saw this over on a photography site too - argh! I hope their plugins don't suffer as a result of this. I have quite an investment in Nik plugins for Aperture and would hate to see them die.

Fingers crossed they do more than they did with SketchUp!

I Find the NIK plugins indispensable for Photoshop
I hope they stay supported.

Cheers

NIK Plugs are almost indispensable to me, and there no other RAW Editor for Nikon NEFS as Capture NX that matches the colors of what I get in camera.

A bit worried to be honest, but if they at least make Capture NX faster its a nice thing already, it used to be slow but now compared to the snail speed of Lightroom 4 it looks like a speed demon.

They'll probably rename them to something like 'Ice-cream marshmallow', make it free of charge..... and burn advertisements into your photos!

edit: oh.. and you'll lose ownership to your photos.

Knowing Google, they probably bought Nik out for Snapseed so they can compete with Facebook and Instagram now, rather than later by trying to develop something on their own.

The professional product line will probably end up as the next dead sparrow (sad pun intended)
