Star Wars: The Old Republic :: Artist Profile

Hey there,

CGSociety talks to Jon Rush, character modeler at EA-Bioware working on assets for Star Wars: The Old Republic game. A collaborative workflow is as important to the smooth running pipeline here as in any other production, game or movie.

Fmr Editor and features writer, CGSociety; Global Artist Liaison, Ballistic Publishing. Freelance writer, media consultant & digital producer.

Thanks for posting. I had Jon in a character course last year (CG Workshops) and learned a lot.

Hopefully Jon will update his character course with the latest ZBrush techniques, etc. I've messed with ShadowBox and Dynamesh and would love to see updated info on how Jon incorporates them into his character pipeline.

Hope Texas got some needed rain since we last visited.

I always like these looks into a studio and their artists. It always feels like the traditional crafts of drawing, painting and sculpting are respected skills and have a new purpose.

This is also the first time I have heard of Marmoset? (In Jonathan's course promo) Looking into it I learn of a powerful, easy to use game texture generator and asset previewer? And it's been around since 2009? Looks great.
