and another note, are they going to get rid of dvd regions, because i'm not seeing a reason for it?

Doubtful... if anything they'll probably restrict it further... Country setup... heck, why not postal codes.

On a more serious note, the porn industry has quite a saying in the matter consider the enormous amounts of dvd they sell, and I heard from a friend who was told by someone who read somewhere that they're releasing HD-content even now on DVD in WMV... Why doesn't the "normal" industry care as much for their consumers?

Educate me...
is Sony the only group using Blu-Ray? And is PS3 gonna be the first use of it or is it out there now?

I'm just wondering how much software will be packed in the "whatever-ray" ready Linux ISO that I'll download. Hehehe. Things are looking good already.

No. Pioneer will have the first Blu-ray drive out.

And no, Sony isn't the only studio using Bluray. Disney, Fox, Miramax, Warner Bros (thinking about it), New Line, and a few others are going to Blu-ray.
