can anyone recommend a method for attaching feathers to a polygon model? I tried dodomaster, but it only seems to work for nurbs...

Hey Colin is this for Maya or? you could possibly try parent constraining a clump of feather planes to dynamic hair curves. you can start with making your u and v patches to be enough for equal distributions and then delete the hair system and only leave the curves, shift select the plane and the curve ,parent constraining the planes without maintain offset selecting will quickly place the feathers on to the root of the nurbs curve

or maybe you can make a whole bunch of feathers combined in a single mesh and keep them attached by using a wrap deformer to your rigged model?

theses should both will work not sure how effectively though. just an idea.
