Restricting Rotation

How would restrict rotation of an object?

I am trying to create an opening & closing Iris or Aperture and I don't want the the Iris blades to rotate past 0 or 47 degrees. So how would I do this?

It depends on your package, likely. If you're using Max, there is a Limit Controller than can achieve that. I'm guessing Maya has similar capabilities.

If you are using Maya, select your object, then open the attribute editor and go to the "Limit Information" part.
