Display Joint Handle or Constrint it to a curve?

Well the think is as follows:

I have been taught to display the handle of a joint when there is no ik to parent with a curve.
But i have seen tutorials where they contarint the joint directly to a curve depending o what you need it to do (point constrain, parent constraint etc)

Wich is the best way to do it?

You never want your animators to handle the joints directly. We use curves for a few reasons:

  • They don't render by default
    You can select through them
    And they're just easy to work with and convenient for a simple joint control

After you've learned your basics a good practice would be to create your joint chain, preferably with x as your twist axis, and create a NURBS curve for each and parent constraint it.
