Question Ik spline handle in Maya

When I have created a joint chain, that is slightly bent, and use the Ik spline handle tool to create a curve and a solver, the ik handle moves the joints slightly out of place
is there anyway to prevent this?

or do i need to reposition the joints with the controls i set up for it, to match up with the mesh?


any help would be great!

I'm not able to reproduce your problem, but you can always draw the curve first, then using bonus tools, you can create a joint chain from the curve with the option to apply spline IK.
