Question Rigging a truck crane

Hey guys since this is a little bit different than the usual character one will rig, I am wondering what advice people have on rigging a truck crane like this one so that it can rotate, extend, and possibly extend the winch.

Hey mykiscool,

Its pretty straight forward, you would want to use a joint setup for the extending arms, just so you could get the orientation of the arms nice and zeroed out. From there its just simply constraining your body to the joints and your controls to your joints such that they only move in the desired direction.

The winch is a little more complicated. If its a far shot, you could probably get away with a little less detail. Something like using a lattice for the wires between the boom and the winch. Then you could use one joint near the tip of the boom and one for the winch (add more if you need some followthrough for the winch), skin the joints to the lattice and put in the controls.

Hope this helps..
