HOW DO YOU DO THIS IN LW?: (Core Thread)

HOW DO YOU DO THIS IN LW: Realistic fire
Ok I will post these threads to cover how to do core CG elements
in Lightwave.

The threads so far have been:

HOW DO YOU DO THIS IN LW: Realistic Beach Waves
HOW DO YOU DO THIS IN LW: Realistic fire
HOW DO YOU DO THIS IN LW: Crowd Simulation
HOW DO YOU DO THIS IN LW?:Cloth Dynamics and Morphs

Tips & Tricks
HOW DO YOU DO THIS IN LW: Tapered Extrude

You have an idea for a thread....Post it here!

No "slamming". A person might disagree with you and that is OK. There is no need to make a Sicilian vendetta out of it.
Please stay on target. If you want to tell us about the worderful featureas of a competing program go HERE:

STEALING FEATURES: (What features should LW STEAL for the competition?)

This thread is not intended to show us that beautiful axe you have been grinding. If Newtek kidnapped your family and burned your house to the ground, we don't care.
Looking forward to your ideas.

PS I will post more of these type of threads depending on the sucess of this one.

One that would help a great deal

I've been given a task, with no modeling and/or CG animation background, I've been given a task to animate a gravity well. I figure that with a program like Lightwave getting an object to follow a pre determined path would be an easy thing to do.

No where in the manual is there an explanation on how to do this action.

Is there a way to do this?

FYI - It took me almost 4 hours to figure out how to place a texture map on an object. Since the manuals took the presumption that whoever has this in their hands, knows the program.

Render Setup

Hello everyone.

I just started using LW. Im making a 50's looking jet fighter similar to the Mig-15 just shorter. Im having problems seting up my render. Is there a website explaining how to set up your render for a specific thing?

I checked out the technique...

my own discovery...
smooth scale

It really gets rounded! and it's great for modelling rounded faces or whatever... better than the default sphere...

Do any of you know how I can add a skin to a picture? I have just started using LW and I am modeling a face. But I would like to use Photoshop CS to shade it, is this possible?

Yeap, you have to UVmap your face to apply a 2D image for your 3D object... Check out this tutorial:

LW - is the best polymodeling softwere. It has great material editor, much plugins for rendering (FPrime, G2).
