No problem, not taken the wrong way, just wish it wasn't happening
![]() At least Apple is looking into the GFX card issue on the MP. I know because they sent me a diagnosis tool to gather system info for them. I suspect the problem is with Apple's drivers because there are other problems with the card too. Hopefully a fix will come, but if Maxon can do something about it too all the better. __________________

Update driver question
Hi All
I have notices a significant view port slow down in C4d 12 since updating problems with selecting objects and displaying textures... I am guessing this is driver related, and have switched the use open gl off.. I am told also that the card does not support all features fro advanced open gl. So.... Do I need to upgrade the card first ( I am guessing yes)? What card should I get for best viewport feedback ? I have never looked into Video cards before and I find the whole thing a bit baffling... MacPro Oct 12 gig Ram NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT: C4d 12 __________________

The 7300 is basicaly scrap. It was the most basic graphics card when it became available many years ago and is not realy useable anymore with current 3D software.

Cheers Björn (Small typo I guess): It is the 5770 Apple offers (5750 isn't available as external Apple gfx card). Best regards, wbj |

Cheers Björn Hi Srek I can not get one of them in my mac.. I have this option ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (two dual-link DVI) OR NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 512MB (stereo 3D, two dual-link DVI) Would these be OK... These are £200 or so each... so need to make sure they will work. Lee __________________

Lee None of them is a option as they are too old (the hw isn't sufficient) - and the 5770 does work in a 2006 MacPro (even though Apple doesn't advertise that). Best regards, wbj |

Best regards, wbj Thanks So what I am gathering is that I will have to upgrade my perfectly good Oct macs because the cards will not fit in the slots... Does anybody know any work round connector thingymebob that will allow me to get a new card in my Mac. EDIT.. Well it looks like I can get a HD 5770 in... http://tinyurl.com/6497t2j Thanks for the advice.... I rand Apple support and they said that the 5770 would not fit.. but looking further it seems they do... so thanks for your help here... Lee __________________

If Apple would get their head out of iPad/iPhone land, and finally give us the 2 missing percent to OpenGL 3 conformance then buying a professional graphics card would actually make sense. As its stands now, buying Quadro is totally useless.
You're not gonna get anything better than OpenGL 2.1 and most advanced ARB and Vendor features will be disabled anyway for the time being. Word is Lion will fix it. IMHO it can't come fast enough... |

A quadro on a mac will always be pointless. The only difference between a geforce and the quadro is the drivers. The mac drivers for the geforce are already designed primarily for production software, if you buy a quadro youre just pissing money up the wall for a sticky label on the heatsink.
