This plugin is still in beta and not publically available, but you can buy Arnold for XSI or Maya right away, engine is the same.

Hi Daniel,

Is Arnold specific to 3D apps? Or can scenes be prepared in a Arnold Scene format similar to what we now have with Vray? I ask because my studio has access to a farm setup to render Arnold on Maya. We'd like to know if we can exploit this when Arnold becomes available for C4D.

Thanks!

You can export the scenes to the proprietary Arnold format *.ass which can be rendered by directly via kick.exe. Afaik this applies to MtoA and SitoA as well. So shouldn't matter where you setup your scene.

All this looks very promising! Please keep us updated.

Does Arnold have some kind of distributed rendering?

Regards

From what I can see from the solid angle site the there aren't render nodes you just have to buy more seats at 875 each which is where I think many people will be turned off! Its a good price for one seat, inline with the other top renderers out there but no discounted render nodes is a shame. Quality looks amazing though

Considering Renderman the pricing sounds fair to me
Also don't forget the volume discount and the very fair rental pricing policy!
