Interactive 3D: What is state of the art?

Hello everybody

I'm looking for "the best" interactive 3D presentation solution.
Meaning: an object, a car for example or a phone or whatever, needs to be presented in 3D in the Browser. With or without plugin.

What is the best solution for that right now?
It should have as realistic material and light techniques as possible.

I know xml3D and 3D PDF... but those are both not very convincing (yet).
(both low poly and very poor lighting possibilities)

Any other suggestions and examples?

Regards,
Oliver

You also have Lagoa if you want them to be able to truly interact with the scene at a rendering level, at this point it's available (as a service) commercially I believe, but it's not something you embed in a page somewhere at will, it's more of a collaborative/distributive platform with the computation services backend cloud-side.

With a plug in I would look into Unity 3D.

If game engine is allowed then I would like to say HTML5 version of UDK.

Unity 3d.
Easy to get started and has really robust features.

You can grab the free version and start working.
