It depends on the source but if your talking something used the displace deformer, youll need to make it editable and bake it to a PLA track, then use the baked mesh as the emitter source.

hope that helps

Gah! I'm not allowed to buy this until current paying projects are done for threat of distraction. Stupid paying work. Congrats on the release guys!

P.S X-particles comes out with a complete library object covering almost everything in the plugin. that and the massive manual are fantastic guides to learning XP.

Oh no... I've just noticed that v2 doesn't support R13 which has come as a bit of a last minute surprise. Thats a real shame

Old 05 May 2013   #35
don't worry we are on the case and r13 builds will be ready as soon as we can.

Great update! It seems to play nicely with DPIT Effex also which is very cool! This gave me a great reason to get back into Cinema4d.

I do have one question. I am using r14 Broadcast so I do not have access to HAIR but I would like to render out trails. Is my only option to use a sweep nurbs object? It seems to work well enough but I was just curious to know if I may be limiting myself as far as my options go.

Yes, unfortunately to render trails without geometry you need Hair or Sketch & Toon. Without those a sweep is (AFAIK) the only way.
