Dear community, please poll for this very needful plugin: Advanced Topology Maps

Hey guys,

Paul Everet (http://cinemaplugins.com) just started a poll for a very promising plugin he did: Advanced Topology Maps
As I understood it right, this plugin creates Ambient Occlusion, Shadows, Sub Surface Volume and much more in a new and clever way in nearly real time

He started this poll, because he wants to know, if this plugin is worth the work he did. Because, if no one really knows the potential of this plugin, it could be never be released...

So, please go to THIS SITE and hit the "right" button in order Paul let us have this great plugin

Here are some examples, so you all can see what I'm talking about:

Shadows in real time:

Ambient Occlusion (real time)

(right click, open in new window to see full size)

Depth Inclusion

(right click, open in new window to see full size)

Deformation Map

(right click, open in new window to see full size)

And a YouTube link:

This plugin is still in development and I'm sure it will reach its full potential with the upcoming versions !

Thanx

Serge

Holy tap-dancing Krishna, that is amazing! I will most certainly vote. Thanks!

Done. Put my vote in. This is a great plugin and Paul is a superb developer. I have a few of his Plugins and they always seem to push Cinema that little bit further. This one is a doozy.

Spent a chunk of time time today reading his thread and watching the vids. Great stuff and looks quite useful--especially the AO and Depth volume. Will almost certainly buy it if it becomes available--just have some production related questions--mainly dealing with animation, generators, and objects that don't have a particularly dense topology

This would be amazing to have as a plugin or as a native feature of C4D. Any idea on whether this would be available for R13 users? I'd also be interested in what the projected cost would be?

I would buy on first day

And while you're on the site for the poll, do buy a few of his other awesome plugins!

All of my plugins:
are written in c++
are compiled for mac and PC
work on R12,R13 R14 (or greater).
are 64 bit (nobody seems to miss 32 bit so far)
don't have any render client restrictions.
are hand coded deep in the jungles of Oberweser by a team of green elves
taste of chocolate.
have frilly edges.
do blend.
can wash dishes when used correctly.
have terrible documentaion
could fetch the paper.
and lots more

regards
Paul

Looks like yet another indispensable shader for mixing things up in the layer shader and for a great many other uses I can think of too. It would be a tremendous shame not to further develop and eventually release this.

I would like to see more demonstrations of the other sampling modes though before making a decision.

I've been quite happy with the two purchases I made with Paul so far..
'Add effectors' is a great time saver and solved some issues that normally involve a lot of xpresso tinkering (or had no solution at all). While 'WhiteLights2' impressive as it is in it's functionality and simplicity, I was a little let down by the render times when I tried to push things too far. Not a bad plugin though, at all.

*Edit

Paul, seeing as you're around. If you do decide to release, can I ask roughly how long it might need to complete?

It's not a shader but a vertex map generator based on mesh angle, density, ao etc. One big advantage compared to a shader is that it can be seen and evaluated in the viewport as vertex maps are visualised as they are in the viewport :-) Very nice for a live AO preview.
One disadvantage of course is that vertex maps are mesh based, so if you have a low resolution mesh, your vertex map will look also low poly :-)

And please, everyone who votes for this please mean it. There is nothing worse than teasing Paul into spending a lot of effort if you don't actually plan to get the plugin once it becomes available.
Cheers

Glad to see renewed interest in this.

Quickie question while we're here. The viewport & stills renders look great - but when it comes to animating, do the shaders interpolate smoothly or will there be jittering or crawl effects as the map jumps from vertex to vertex? The volume depth looks like a tasty faker for translucent effects, but only if it'll animate.

Here are two shorts, one with AO and one with Depth, both seem to be flicker free :-)
(Watch the thighs)

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/28253825/MouseAO.mov

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/28253825/MouseDepth.mov

(set them to loop, they're very short or scrub through to see the effect)

And here's a longer example with the Dino from the Content Browser showing how the
depth map behaves over time:
