Does Hair work with Global Illumination?

Does Hair work with Global Illumination, Ambient Occlusion or the Physical Renderer?

as raytracing which is not the default mode yes. In standard renderer the normals are often the opposite of what you'd like for GI so it isn't great, but you can also switch to geometry too. for AO specifically I think it has to be geometry.

Thanks Kai. How do you set it for Raytracing?

If I put a soft shadows on a light, the hair looks cool.

Can I use GI to get realistic looking hair? Or would you recommend shadowing it?

i would recommend not using GI.
even if you get it to look good it will mean longer render times.

and the raytrace option is under the hair render settings
