[free plugin] FlowCut

Hi,

today i want to release a little modelling helper by the name of flowCut

"FlowCut is a free plugin that makes edge cuts along multiple selected edges while considering the flow of the mesh. This way, newly created edges are not just a linear connection, but are positioned to match the flow of the mesh."

In other words, when you are cutting edges you usually get a linear cut. FlowCut will make these edge cuts while considering the flow of the mesh and position the new cuts accordingly.

see >this video< as an example or these pictures from the website:

Download at the FlowCut Website

Note:
The Plugin might not always work as expected for more complicate mesh parts, i.e. parts with a flow that changes from convex to concave or vice versa. This is why i make it available for free, bc i have not had the time to fix all possible problems and bc some customers asked me for it. It should work well most of the time though!

EDIT:
made a new version of the plugin to fix the crash Bug when pressing 'make cut'.

greets,
Daniel

Thank you Daniel. Love it. One thing I noticed is that, for me at least, undo doesn't work.

What cinema version are you using ? So far i only tested on R12 for Mac which seemed to work fine.

Also i assume you mean the 'make cut' button , since there is no 'create mesh' button in the plugin ;-)

greets,
Daniel

Looks like a great plugin!

The crashes on OS X under R14 sounds like it might be caused by the issue discussed in this thread over at plugincafe:

Hi there,

the crash when pressing 'make cut' seems to happen on Mac only.
I'll check it out when i have some more spare time.

@Filip
thanks for that hint, I'll read up on it and see if that issue is related to this one.

greets,
Daniel
