Though I had to bake the Sphere first, before I could use it with voxygen.

What´s the best way to use the pointcloud? Just ad the voxygen object into the object field of the cloner?

Squirrel

Cool test. Interested more in seeing if the individual voxels can be dynamic. The example you've shown can be created (closely) without a plugin. The main difference is that the voxels are being redistributed on each frame whereas the non-plugin way(mograph), the clones would just lock to the vertices.

Doesn't have to, technically you can do proper voxels, just no where near as efficient/intelligent as Paul's plugin. you basically would make a massive grid of cubes and use a volume effector for visibility. The densities Paul's plugin can achieve would typically cripple your system with mograph though because its is a less streamlined optimized method. Definitely one of those tools where in a pinch I might be able to survive without, but it does it's specific function much better than ay other solution. If you imagine doing this more than once in a commercial project then the plugin easily pays for itself.

I'll keep an eye on this multi deformer you mentioned paul, sounds like how the mogrpah group effector works? That would be an awesome tool.

also , dont forget that neither mograph or anything else are gonna get those colors onto your voxel cubes. You dont need any kind of shader or further modifications to use the uvs from the original object.
take a good look at the mouse and ask yourself , htf are those colors happening on those voxels
there are no special shaders. no modifiers, no funny stuff. it is using the exact same material on the voxel object , as the original object.I just drag the material tag that was on the origin object, onto the generator and voila. That is so obvious and seamless that you dont even realize that its magical

cheers
Paul

Not to hijack the thread--but to Richard, there is an open source plugin that is available for C4D called Autopack, and another called CellPack. I havent tried it and not sure how well it works within c4d but worth a shot. I've heard that its a bit hit or miss.

In a nutshell, it packs objects into the volume of other objects. It was created to simulate the packing of molecules within a cell, and might be able to do what is shown in the images you posted, which, by the way are among my favorite images I've seen on the net.

Sounds interesting

its a great plug paul. what do you think about adding a current state to object option that includes all the voxels ? currently if you make the object editable it creates one single geometry object. thanks.

Heh, first to 3D-print anything made with Voxygen wins a free update.

Are there any bundles for your plug-ins that offer a discount over buying them separately?

if you need some more voxels, go for point cloud option of voxygen and a particle system.

updated.

updated to version 1.24. this has various improvments to the history cache.fixes a memory leak and reduces memory usage.
--------------------------------------
Version 1.24
Cache history now renders with the IRR (interactive render region)
Rendering to the picture viewer now renders full history without having to start at frame 0 (as an improved preview)
Turning the Voxygen generator on/off no longer flushes the cache
Turning any sub objects on/off no longer flushes the cache
Added an option to enable/disable cache coloring.
Memory Leak fixed.
Reduced memory use.

Version 1.23
Improved Cache scrubbing behavior for history
History is now Colored from white (actual frame) to black(the oldest frame) mapped to the range of the history count. So you can use colorizer to shade this any way you want.

Version 1.22
Added an aspect lock for geometry source

Version 1.21
Public release
Final Name change to "Voxygen"

updated to version 1.26 which fixes a few bugs and includes support for Mograph effectors.
------------------------
Version 1.26
Fixed a crash bug when running CSTO or make editable on voxygen object.
Fixed a bug which was setting the wrong matrix for Point Cloud output.
Version 1.25
Added Support for Effectors (pos,scale,rotation,uvw,visibility)
------------------------
take a look here..
