update

>paul i have not yet got my serial to try
all sent now, I was sleeping.

> but will these voxel cubes work with dynamics ?
you can use the point count mode to convert to mograph. That hould allow you to do dynamics.

I was wondering if it will be possible to get a cell size controled by a B&W shader map (to have different sizes ( for example on the face I'd need more details etc )
>I will add support for a vertex map in the next version and we can see if it needs more.

>and is it be possible to melt all those cubes ( or mesh ) into a metaball object ?
you can use the point cloud mode for that.

>(I noticed that you have put a deformer slot .. but what happens if I've several deformers ?
Tools4D MultiDeformer (on the way) think multishader or layer shader , but for deformers.

version history
-----------------
Version 1.23
Improved Cache scrubbing behavior for history
History is now Colored from white (actualt frame) to black(the oldest frame) mapped to the range of the history count. So you can use colorizer to shade this any way you want.

Version 1.22
Added an aspect lock for geometry source

Version 1.21
Public release
Final Name change to "Voxygen"

Version 1.20
Added Unique id for history levels
Added some cell noise settings

Version 1.19
reduced memory usage
fixed strange bug when a geometry source object was animated
Added vector feild for the cell offsets (as apposed to a single value)

Version 1.18
fixed bug where the first voxel was in the wrong place.
cleaned up uv code, see if that fixes the black voxels issue on the mac.

Version 1.17
Added History Levels

Version 1.16
Added Point mode
Added some breaks in main loops.
modifier now reacts with time dependent deformers
Added enabling limiters to dialog

Version 1.15
reduced memory consumption
twice as fast as 1.10
more accurrate voxels (which in turn produces less final voxels)

Version 1.10
several fixes and improvments.

Version 1.00
private release

Would it be possible to keyframes the 'voxelisation'? ie: transition from a normal object to a voxelised one, and vice versa. I'm on a project now that could use just such an effect.

you could use the render detail value to reduce the cell size so that they are small enough to make the transition. (you dont really want to do that in the editor)

cheers

This looks brilliant, cool plugin Paul

Hi Paul,

Sorry to bug you again...Here's another idea...
Would it be possible to add a skip (insert desired number here) history state feature?
The reason I ask is that this allows for all sorts of creative "multi exposure" / bullet time eyegasm stuff like this

Cheers / Alex

yes, i dont see why not.

tested and working via the point cloud.I have uploaded an example scene to the scenes folder.

Just bought it! Picked up Collage Shader while at the store.

Hi!

Here is a small test I did with dynamics and voxygen.

http://vimeo.com/57120034

Though I had to bake the Sphere first, before I could use it with voxygen.

What´s the best way to use the pointcloud? Just ad the voxygen object into the object field of the cloner?

regards,
Squirrel

Is the name VoxyGen or Voxelizer?

Saw this and thought of this plugin. How easy would it be to create spherical voxels and or rectangular voxels or have I got the wrong end of the stick

Best

Richard

First of all--great looking plugin Paul. On my list.

Not to hijack the thread--but to Richard, there is an open source plugin that is available for C4D called Autopack, and another called CellPack. I havent tried it and not sure how well it works within c4d but worth a shot. I've heard that its a bit hit or miss.

In a nutshell, it packs objects into the volume of other objects. It was created to simulate the packing of molecules within a cell, and might be able to do what is shown in the images you posted, which, by the way are among my favorite images I've seen on the net.

Thanks for implementing this feature.
Having lots of fun with it.
Here's a quick and dirty test
