I just
released another plug-in update. You can now also bake the character animation for easier NET rendering. Customers should already have received an updated download link. I also posted a new video about this feature here:

Hi.

Can you use alembic export out to bake animations?

Thanks

Hi Lee,

as the plugin itself only animates a simple joint hierarchy, it should work with Alembic as well. Same should be true for fbx export.

Hi Cy,

I will build a demo soon, maybe later today. Of course I have to limit some functionality then, but it should be enough to try it out.

Demo version available

Hello,

ok, I just prepared a demo version of the People in Motion plug-in for you.
It includes just one male character (and is also limited just to use one at time) and doesn't offer animation baking, but should work good enough to play around with.
Please head over to my webshop and get it from there:

Hello,
the motions include:
- idle standing
- standing and waiting
- standing, waiting and greeting someone
- standing, surfing a smartphone
- standing, talking on phone
- standing, conversation
- standing, viewing art at an exhibition
- idle sitting
- sitting and looking around
- sitting with crossed legs
- sitting, watching a movie or following a speach
- sitting and reading a book or magazine
- sitting, working on a laptop
- sitting, drinking a cup of coffee
- sitting conversation
- slow walking
- medium speed walking
- fast walking
- walking with individual speed
- slow walking with mobile phone
- medium speed walking with mobile phone
- fast walking with mobile phone
- walking with individual speed with mobile phone
- slow walking, carrying a Briefcase
- medium speed walking, carrying a Briefcase
- fast walking, carrying a Briefcase
- walking with individual speed, carrying a Briefcase
- slow walking, pulling a trolly
- medium speed walking, pulling a trolly
- fast walking, pulling a trolly
- walking with individual speed, pulling a trolly

All motions are different for male and female characters and many of them can be blended, for example to start with a standing motion and then having a transition to a walking motion. Also blending between different walking speeds and blending between different standing animations is possible.
All animations can be modified using the included IK for the head, the arms and the legs, so it's easy to adjust a simple walking animation so that the character is for example carrying a box or pushing a shopping card.
Motions can be randomized and offset, so that two characters walking side by side are not showing the same walking rhythm.
Best thing is really to check out the workshop videos on youtube and to play with the demo to get an idea. Up to now I only got very positive feedback from customers, so I am happy to include feature suggestions in the coming updates.

Is there any plan to add running motions and jumping motions. Being that games have figures running I think that would be good. Also the ability to import mocap data to the existing figures joints would be great. Is there any plans for that as well?

Hello

yes, I am thinking about adding additional movements in coming updates. I was also thinking about a link to external motion capture files, but this is more complicated than it seems. Most MoCap data just uses simplified rigs without facial or even finger joints. Also MoCap includes translation data. As users of People in Motion can control the walking paths by themselves, that information has to be replaced. Somehow this all gets quite technical pretty fast and runs in a different direction than I was aiming at. I wanted this tool to be easy and not too complex. Maybe would be better to program a separate tool for this.
